PlayStation VR2 Slashes Off $150 in New Price Cut From Sony
Sony announced via the PlayStation Blog that it is now taking off as much as $150 from the price of the PlayStation VR2. The device is best known to be the PlayStation 5's dedicated VR gaming platform, succeeding the company's successful PlayStation VR, which was released for the PS4.
The gaming company is now inviting users to take advantage of these lower prices to get their hands on the PS VR2 as the new prices will take effect in March.
Players all over the world will get a chance to grab the cheaper recommended retail price of the PS VR2, with the company already sharing a price list that includes tax in various regions:
- United States - $399.99 (from $549.99)
- Europe - €449.99 (from €549.99)
- United Kingdom - £399.99 (from £529.99)
- Japan - ¥66,980 (from ¥89,980)
The price includes the headset, its PS VR2 Sense controllers, and a pair of stereo headphones.
Sony has also included the PlayStation VR2 "Horizon Call of the Mountain" bundle in the price cuts that it effected for its virtual reality headset. However, it is at the same price as the base brand-new PS VR2.
The only thing that has changed here is the addition of the PlayStation Store voucher, which offers the latest "Horizon" game.
Will This Price Cut Help Sony's PlayStation VR 2 Sell Units?
Sony has faced a significant struggle in selling the PlayStation VR2 in the market, according to Ars Technica, and the company was not able to replicate the popularity and significance of the original release.
Previously, Sony has also decided to pause the production of the PS VR2 because of its struggles in the market.
The good thing about the PlayStation VR2 is that Sony eventually gave players a chance to use the VR headset outside of the PlayStation 5 console, offering a dedicated dongle that allows users to connect it to their PCs and access other VR games and platforms, including Steam VR.
