Niantic has officially revealed the schedule for this year’s Pokémon GO Fest. The two-day global event is set from July 17 to 18, a sure fun weekend for Pokémon trainers.
While no additional details have been revealed so far, there are many expectations. That’s because 2021 is the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise and the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO.
GO Fest 2020
When the World Health Organization declared a pandemic, it was expected that the GO Fest 2020 would be canceled. To Niantic’s credit, they found a way to make sure that the game’s biggest event would still be held.
Instead of being hosted by a city, it became a virtual event. The advantage was that more trainers were able to participate. In addition, it allowed trainers to join the event for a day without buying any tickets. Those who did have tickets though could join the event on both days.
May Limited Research Event
The limited research event for May is scheduled for May 9 and those who can finish the tasks can lead to encounters with Marill. Trainers lucky enough may even get to meet a Shiny Marill.
May Community Day
The Community Day this month is going to be on May 15 and it features Swablu. During this event, any incense activated lasts for three hours. Moreover, Eggs placed in an Incubator are going to have 1/4 Hatch Distance.
Details of the event are:
- Swablu appears more frequently in the wild. Those lucky enough can encounter a Shiny version.
- Trainers who evolve Swablu during the event or up to two hours afterward can get an Altaria that knows the attack Moonblast.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise.
- A special one-time-purchase Community Day Box is available and priced at 1,280 PokéCoins, It contains:
- 50 Ultra Balls
- 5 Super Incubators
- 5 Incense
- An Elite Fast TM
- For $1, trainers can access the Swablu Community Day–exclusive Special Research story, Cotton-Winged Bird.
- Mega Altaria is set to make its official debut in Mega Raids.
