A new month starts on Monday and that means a whole new set of activities arriving in Pokémon GO. What makes the date extra special is because of the new season. Today, we take a look at what March has to offer.
Let’s start with the Research Breakthrough encounter for the month. It starts March 1 and ends April 1. During this event, Trainers get to encounter Gible.
Pokémon Raids
Since March signals the start of the Season of Legends, Legendary Pokémon will appear in five-star raids for the whole month. These are:
- Incarnate Forme Landorus
- March 1 to March 6
- Incarnate Forme Tornadus
- March 6 to March 11
- Incarnate Forme Thundurus
- March 11 to March 16
- Therian Forme Thundurus
- March 16 to March 30
- Therian Forme Tornadus
- March 30 and onward
Meanwhile, these Mega-Evolved Pokémon are set to appear in Mega Raids:
- March 1 to March 16
- Mega Blastoise
- Mega Pidgeot
- Mega Ampharos
- March 16 and onward
- Mega Houndoom
- Mega Abomasnow
- A surprise Mega-Evolved Pokémon
There’s also a Raid Hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday of the month. It’s going to feature Pokémon that appear in five-star raids for that week. A bonus Raid Hour is scheduled at the same time for March 15.
With a new season, Trainers get to earn additional XP when finishing five-star raids.
Spotlight Hours
For March, the Pokémon Spotlight Hour takes place every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. local time, and features:
- March 2
- Spotlight on: Krabby
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.
- March 9
- Spotlight on: Drowzee
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
- March 16
- Spotlight on: Voltorb
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
- March 23
- Spotlight on: Surskit
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the XP for catching Pokémon.
- March 30
- Spotlight on: Slugma
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
Bonus Hours
Niantic announced that they’ll be testing this new feature for the entire month. It’s scheduled every Thursday and offers a unique bonus. Look out for:
- March 4: GO Rocket Hour
- Team GO Rocket Balloons appear more frequently.
- March 11: Mega Bonus Hour: Candy
- Trainers earn more Candy when they catch Pokémon that share a type with their active Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
- March 18: Mega Raid Hour
- Mega Raids happen more frequently.
Special Research
Team GO Rocket has been silent for a couple of months but now it seems that Giovanni and his Grunts have resurfaced. Making things worse is that they now have more Shadow Pokémon, including Shadow Legendary Pokémon. Initial investigations have shown that Giovanni may be using Shadow Legendary Pokémon at different times:
- March 2021: Shadow Articuno
- April 2021: Shadow Zapdos
- May 2021: Shadow Moltres
Community Day
This month’s Community Day starts a bit early, which is on March 6. Features for this event are:
- Fletchling appears more frequently in the wild. Those lucky enough can encounter a Shiny one.
- Evolve Fletchinder (the evolved form of Fletchling) during the event or up to two hours afterward to get a Talonflame that knows Incinerate.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise.
- There’ll be a special one-time-purchase Community Day Box available for 1,280 PokéCoins. The box offers:
- 50 Ultra Balls
- 5 Lucky Eggs
- 1 Poffin
- 1 Elite Fast TM
- For $1, Trainers can access the Fletchling Community Day–exclusive Special Research story, The Bravest Bird.
For the March Community Day, the bonuses are 3× Catch XP and the incense activated during the event lasts for three hours.
