Did you know that there’s a new animated Pokémon movie coming out? It is titled Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle. What makes us a bit excited is that it marks a return to the 2D art style. The film will launch in Japan on Christmas Day, though the rest of the world has to wait until 2021.
To celebrate the movie, Pokémon GO is launching an event that brings back Jessie and James to the game. There’s also a chance to encounter a Shiny Celebi. Today, we break down the activities of this celebration.
Hooray for Jessie and James
Beginning December 14, there’s a limited-time Special Research story inspired by the movie. Those who get to finish this particular research line will encounter a Shiny Celebi. The twist is, Professor Willow won't be the guide. Trainers will receive guidance from Jessie and James.
What else can Trainers expect? The two will take part as well in the Meowth balloon for a short time. There's also a welcoming of a different Shadow Pokémon.
Pika! Pika!
Pikachu has been in the game for quite some time. And now, Explorer Pickahu will make its official game debut. It'll become available from December 14 to December 21.
Not only Explorer Pikachu will appear in the wild and in raids, but there’s the chance to meet the Shiny version too. Trainers who take a snapshot during this event may get to see Jessie and James.
Explorer Pikachu will appear in the Pokémon Spotlight Hour as well, from December 15 at 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, local time.
A Special Christmas
On Christmas day, Jessie and James’s Meowth balloon will appear more often. The frequent appearance is from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, local time.
A lot is happening this month and you can get an idea of what they are here. There’s also an ongoing activity where Trainers can meet Pokémon discovered in the Kalos region. Learn more about that here.
