September is almost over, and in Pokémon GO, that means one thing. Time to prepare for a new month and its bunch of new activities. For October, trainers can expect Halloween fun and see some Pokémon in costumes.
Before we take a look at what’s happening in October, one of the events that everyone can look forward to is the tie-in event with Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle. It’s going to see the debut of Zarude in the game. Read more about it here.
Raids
Let’s start with raids. For October, these Pokémon will appear in five-star raids:
- The Mythical Pokémon Genesect holding a Douse Drive
- Duration: October 1 to 12
- This signals Genesect’s official debut in the game.
- It’s not going to appear as a Shiny Pokémon at this time.
- Altered Forme Giratina
- Duration: October 12 to 22
- Get the chance to encounter a Shiny one.
- Darkrai that knows the attack Sludge Bomb
- Duration: October 22 to November 5
- This is the first time Darkrai appears in the game with this attack.
- Those lucky enough can encounter a Shiny one.
There are also Mega-Evolved Pokémon appearing in Mega Raids, which are:
- Mega Gengar
- Duration: October 1 to 22
- Mega Absol
- Duration: October 22 to November 5
Special Hours
There’s a Raid Hour event happening in October from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., local time, every Wednesday. These Pokémon are set to be featured:
- October 6: Genesect holding a Douse Drive
- October 13: Altered Forme Giratina
- October 20: Altered Forme Giratina
- October 27: Darkrai that knows the attack Sludge Bomb
Like the previous months, there’s also the Pokémon Spotlight Hour happening every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., local time. The featured Pokémon and corresponding special bonus are:
- October 5
- Pokémon: Drifloon
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
- October 12
- Pokémon: Gastly
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
- October 19
- Pokémon: Gothita
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the XP for catching Pokémon.
- October 26
- Pokémon: Murkrow
- Special Bonus: Earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
Other Events
Here are some of the other events that players can join in October:
- Niantic’s Birthday
- Niantic is celebrating its birthday on October 6. To celebrate this event, trainers can log into the game and get a free box.
- This offer is only valid from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (local time) on that day.
- Pokémon GO Halloween returns
- Costumed Pokémon returns for the annual spooky event.
- Expect to see costumed Pokémon in the wild and a new Halloween-themed Special Research story.
- This is from October 15 to 31.
- October Community Day
- The Community Day will feature Duskull.
- It’s set on October 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (local time).
