With Sun and Moon released around the world (except Europe) a new rumor has a brand new Pokémon game coming to the upcoming Nintendo Switch.
According to Eurogamer, a new version of Pokémon Sun and Moon will be coming to the Nintendo Switch as the third version in the Generation 7 series. Eurogamer’s multiple sources confirmed that the codename for this new Pokémon game will be Pokémon Stars.
The Pokémon franchise has had plenty of third versions in its lifespan. From Pokémon Yellow to Pokémon Platinum, third versions of main series games are not uncommon, as they expand on the lore of the region and usually feature a third Legendary Pokémon that was not in the spotlight in the first two games.
Sun and Moon has plenty of other Legendary Pokémon for Pokémon Star to focus on (check out our Sun and Moon Legendary Pokémon list ) so Game Freak can do in a number of directions.
Eurogamer even goes as far as to say that the Sun and Moon reveal trailer earlier in the year showed off some Switch footage of the game. More specifically, the wireframe model of Pikipek.
The rumors of a Pokémon game coming to the Nintendo Switch have been around since the console was still being called the Nintendo NX, but with The Pokémon Company CEO confirming that Pokémon will be coming to the new console, it was only a matter of if a main series game or a spinoff title like Pokémon Snap or Stadium would be the games that made the jump.
So what do you think of a main series Pokémon game coming to a home console? What do you hope is added in this game that wasn’t in Sun and Moon ? Sound off in the comments section below.
