The Pokémon Company released a brand new Sun and Moon trailer showing off snippets of gameplay footage we have already seen, along with new footage that may hint at some story elements of Sun and Moon.
There’s a lot to take in for a two-minute trailer, but Pokémon fans will definitely want to check it out.
With these Pokémon Sun and Moon trailers, there is a lot to dissect and some tidbits that Pokémon fans should be aware of. So we compiled some new facts about Pokémon Sun and Moon that you may have missed in this epic new trailer.
A WILD OAK APPEARS
Probably the biggest talking point from this new Sun and Moon trailer is the appearance of a familiar face. After around the 1:31 mark, viewers can see a tanned man who looks awfully like Professor Oak from the Kanto region.
But before you get your hopes up for a return to Kanto in Sun and Moon, this man is not the Oak we already know but his cousin. Confirmed in Famitsu, this new character in Sun and Moon is actually Nariya Oak.
This new Oak will actually explain the Alola Forms to your trainer and he’s the perfect candidate to do so, since his cousin is based in Kanto and all of the Alolan Pokémon in Sun and Moon have been (so far) just Kanto Pokémon.
It’ll be interesting to see how big of a role this new Oak will have in your Sun and Moon journey.
LITTEN ATTACKS
The starters in Sun and Moon still have a lot of mystery surrounding them. Outside of some supposed leaked final evolutions, we don’t know a lot about them.
We saw some Popplio gameplay during E3 2016, where we learned that the Water-type can learn Disarming Voice but now with this new Sun and Moon trailer we see four of Litten’s attacks in the game.
Since the trailer is in Japanese, many might not recognize the attacks but the four Litten attacks do line up with many competitive battlers felt it would be.
These attacks for Litten pretty much confirm it will be a physical attacker and if the wrestler motif that has been leaked is true, it only cements the Fire-type as a physical attacker.
POKERIDES
One new feature in Sun and Moon are the PokeRides that allow your trainer to ride different Pokémon in the overworld to get through obstacles.
It was shown that you can ride a Tauros, Sharpedo and even a Charizard but some new information regarding the PokeRides was shown. According to Serebii, the PokeRide options are called Lapras Swim, Sharpedo Jet and Charizard Flight.
There are plenty of other Pokémon you can ride in Sun and Moon, and perhaps this function will get rid of HMs. We can only hope.
TOTEM POKEMON CONFIRMS ‘ART’ LEAK?
There have been plenty of leaks and rumors surrounding Sun and Moon and the latest trailer may have given more credibility to the recent “Art” leaks.
In this leak, an anonymous poster listed off a bunch of Sun and Moon information including some sketches depicting new Pokémon and Alola Forms. But a part of their information dump was the identity of the four Totem Pokémon.
Totem Pokémon appear after you complete each island’s trial challenge and they are stronger versions of Pokémon.
The “Art” Leak says that Gumshoos, Lurantis, Wishiwashi and a brand new Pokémon that hasn’t been revealed yet. Gumshoos was confirmed to be a Totem Pokémon in an older Sun and Moon trailer, with Alola Raticate also being a Totem of the same island, which differs depending on what Version you are playing.
But this new trailer shows Lurantis and Wishiwashi as Totem Pokémon in Sun and Moon . Does this make this leak true? We still need more information but this does give it more credibility, even if it could be just a lucky guess.
