Pokémon fans have a lot to celebrate as Pokémon Sword and Shield are going to release an Expansion Pass. This Pass includes two sets of new content. These are The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. While these are clearly two new separate adventures, both allow players to meet new characters while catching newly discovered Pokémon. Players also get to explore new areas in the Galar region.
Trainers can immediately get into the new adventures with the same data that they have been using to play Sword and Shield. In fact, Trainers can explore both new areas at any point in their game, whether they have just started in their adventures or if they are on the way to becoming a Champion.
In the Isle of Armor, Trainers head to this giant island which is full of environments that haven’t been seen in Galar. Players can enjoy wave-swept beaches, sand dunes, caves, bogs, and forests. That said, there’s a lot of Pokémon that call this island their home. The island even has a dojo where Trainers can specialize in some rather unique training styles. Both Trainers and their Pokémon can apply for apprenticeship in the dojo to become even stronger.
For Crown Tundra, players are treated to a snowy land with a beautiful, shining, and silvery landscape. Once there, an NPC is going to appoint the player to lead an exploration team. Players are then tasked with investigating the land. Here Trainers can explore full depth of Pokémon Dens.
Isle of Armor is scheduled to be released towards the end of June with Crown Tundra expected to be released sometime in the autumn. Both Expansion Passes are already available for pre-purchase.
Aside from the new areas to explore and new Pokémon to discover, there are also new clothing items and even handy features, included in the bonus content. There’s also a special extra for those who buy the Expansion Pass. What is it you ask? Well, it’s a Pikachu Uniform and an Eevee Uniform.
Game Freak Game Director Ohmori-san shared in a statement that the Galar region in the game was inspired by the United Kingdom. Ohmori-san added that the Expansion Pass lets players visit two new areas with the Isle of Armor being inspired by the Isle of Man and Crown Tundra being “a snowy landscape inspired by Scotland.”
