It’s called Power for a reason. Ghost wants all of it--as long as he doesn’t have to be a drug dealer. Meanwhile, power in the streets is all Tommy has ever wanted. Kanan, on the other hand, just wants revenge for all the power Ghost stole from him.
Power Season 3 episode 10, the finale titled ‘In My Best Interest,’ will most likely see the death of a major character, if Executive Producer Courtney Kemp has anything to say about it. When asked if a major character’s tenure on Power would come to an end during an interview with Deadline, the showrunner replied, “Yep, That would be a Y-E-P answer.”
With death lurking around every corner, who will be the next to die in the name of power?
Will Tommy die in the Season 3 finale?
Tommy has a lot of power right now, but with it comes great responsibility. He’s got the loyalty of Milan, a deadly mobster who has threatened to kill the entire St. Patrick family. He’s ‘calling the shots’ when it comes to his partnership with Ghost (so he thinks). Tommy’s also in the clear from Kanan, still recovering from Ghost’s attempt on his life last season. The finale will most of all test Tommy’s loyalty to Ghost, since Milan has tasked him with murdering his former best friend. Tommy failed at this test of loyalty once before when Lobos ordered him to kill Ghost. His reluctance to do so ultimately cost him his girlfriend's life. When Holly realized Tommy didn’t have it in him to kill Ghost himself, she hired someone to do it. When Tommy found out her plan, he strangled her to death in their apartment. Tommy doesn’t really have anything to lose, which could explain why he’d be willing to kill Ghost now, but no before.
Last episode, Tommy killed Ghost’s most trusted ally, Ruiz. This could put a target on Tommy’s head. Especially if Ghost can’t retrieve the wire that Ruiz was wearing while he was stabbed to death. It’s suspicious that Ghost didn’t tell Tommy about the wire, which means Ghost could be thinking about turning on Tommy if there’s no mention of his own involvement on the recording. Either way, it may be in Ghost’s best interest to kill Tommy anyways, before Tommy turns on him.
Tasha and Tommy’s newfound friendship puts a wrench in things. If Tommy is going to kill Ghost, he needs to make sure Tasha knows nothing about his plans. If Tommy screws up just once, he’s going to have Milan, Ghost, and Tasha all after him.
Will Kanan die in the Season 3 finale?
Kanan’s motives in Season 3 aren't exactly clear. He’s dead set on revenge, but he hasn’t pulled the trigger yet. For a hot minute we thought he was going to kill Tariq, but Fifty clearly has a soft spot for the youngun. So what’s he waiting for? Maybe his talk with his old-friend made him realize the best way to get back at Ghost isn’t to kill him, but instead take away everything he loves. Kanan may also feel like Ghost tainted his relationship with his own son, Shawn, while he was serving time. Kanan was so disappointed in the person Shawn had become that he killed him in cold blood. Maybe Kanan is getting close to Tariq as payback. Whatever Kanan’s long term plan, he’s got the clear advantage as far as remaining alive.
Killing Kanan would be difficult for both Tommy and Ghost. He’s ruthless. He’s street smart. He’s got eyes everywhere. Also, it’s pretty hard to kill someone you think is already dead. Kanan’s best move is to lay low right now. If Kanan really wants to play the long game on Ghost, it would be in Kanan’s best interest to get on Ghost and Tommy’s good graces. If there’s one person who could successfully kill Millan and get away with it, it’s Kanan. If Kanan wants back in the game, he’s going to have to take down Milan anyway.
Will Ghost die in the Season 3 finale?
Let’s be honest. Ghost probably won’t be the one to go -- or at least James St. Patrick won’t. The finale could see ‘Ghost’ dying in a figurative sense. He just wants to live life as James St. Patrick, but he can’t seem to leave his old life behind. It’s Ghost who has the most at stake in all of this. Even if he gets out of the drug business, Kanan won’t stop until he gets revenge. The worst part about all of this is Ghost doesn’t even know Kanan is still alive. Not to mention Kanan has been hanging with his teenage son whole time. AND, his new #2, Dre, is working with Kanan! Tasha doesn’t even have his back. The two slept together last episode, but immediately after, Tasha called Tommy and ruined his plan to kill Milan.
To kill or be killed? It would be in Ghost’s best interest to kill Tommy… and Kanan (when he finds out he’s still alive). Tommy is irrational, unpredictable, and doesn’t give a shit about Ghost’s desire to live a clean life. Tommy’s relationship with Milan puts the entire St. Patrick family at risk, even though Tommy is under the impression he’s protecting Tasha and the kids.
Will Tasha die in the Season 3 finale?
There’s always the chance it won’t be Kanan, Ghost or Tommy who die. If Kanan really wants to cut Ghost deep, he should kill Tasha. -- although I personally couldn’t bear to see a second woman die in one season. Kanan has already made a conscious decision not to kill Tariq. For whatever reason, he’s developed a kinship with Ghost and Tasha’s son, even if his desire to build a relationship began with malicious intent. A compelling twist would be having Tasha pull the final trigger on Tommy or Kanan. If she finds out Tommy is even thinking about killing Ghost, we all know she’s going to feel some type of way. Tasha’s friend is still missing, with Milan as the prime suspect. Tasha goes hard for the people she cares about, and if put in the situation, she wouldn’t be shy to pull the trigger on anyone that endangers her family.
