The Pretty Little Liars Season 7 summer finale takes place Tuesday , but show creator I. Marlene King and actresses Sasha Pieterse, Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Shay Mitchell and Ashley Benson recently revealed details about the season that are much more titillating than who will die in episode 10.
The six announced on Facebook live Thursday that following the midseason finale, the next 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars will be the final episodes of the series. The show will end in 2017 in a two-hour special, which will close out the show, according to King.
Fans can expect to find out the identity of “AD” or “Uber A” when the show ends. King and the Liars promise lots of romance throughout the second half of Season 7 and a satisfying end to the show.
Freeform Executive Vice President of Programming and Development Karey Burke, recently told Variety that a seven-season run for Pretty Little Liars has long been the plan, despite the fact that there were rumors of a Season 8 or a Pretty Little Liars movie (King noted the two-hour series finale would essentially be the PLL movie).
“It’s rare that you have a chance to send a series out on top, which the feeling very much was that this would achieve,” Burke told Variety . “It ultimately comes down to [showrunner] Marlene [King] and her vision, and her sense of where the natural place for the narrative to end was, and this was that.”
King will also go on to produce a new show for Freeform called Famous In Love , which will premiere in April 2017.
Pretty Little Liars’ stars have not revealed their plans for after the show ends; however, Bellisario made her directorial debut leading an episode of Pretty Little Liars , which will air during the final half of Season 7 in 2017.
