PUBG Labs Program is a dedicated space that allows players to test experimental game content such as flying vehicles and creative Battle Royale features in Playeraunknown's Battlegrounds. PUBG Corp is now trying a new experimental Arena Mode for the Labs Program.
The Arena Mode pits all squads against each other to claim dominance over an arena in elimination matches until only three squads remain. The remaining three squads will then fight the final battle to win the round. PUBG Corp stated that certain gameplay mechanics have been tweaked for the mode to encourage team play.
The Arena Mode will be available on the Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok maps. The mode supports up to 64 players, pitting squads against one another in tournament-like battles. The maps will have sealed off sections that serve as the arena. Each squad will have three chances to achieve victory before being eliminated. With the final three or fewer squads, a Sudden Death arena commences. The team that wins the battle is declared the winner of the round.
In addition to the Arena Mode, PUBG has also introduced new gameplay mechanics like reviving teammates in five seconds and reducing the usual time to half. In Arena Mode, players won't be required to loot for weapons and ammo. Instead, they'll be provided with a traditional loadout. Racking up kills rewards players with money, which can then be used to buy new weapons. The mode will only be available for four weekends, kicking off on September 18. Console players will be able to try the new mode for the next two weekends.
We cannot be sure whether or not PUBG Corp will add the Arena Mode to live servers, but if the player base loves it, then there is a high chance the mode could become more of a permanent fixture.
