Blizzard’s annual convention, BlizzCon, is designed to celebrate the studio’s popular game franchises and outline what fans have to look forward to both in the immediate future and over the coming year.
The biggest announcements Blizzard has to make about new games and major updates are usually reserved for the upcoming event. That is why it is easily the most exciting weekend of the year for players across the world. So, without further ado, here’s what you need to know about BlizzCon 2019.
When is BlizzCon 2019?
It holds true that BlizzCon 2019 is expected to run Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3. However, almost everything that will be relevant to viewers at home is going to happen on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, fans who are hoping to witness the Overwatch World Cup may want to tune in a day early. That is because the preliminary stage of the tournament will start on Thursday, October 31, just a day before BlizzCon officially starts. Also, the preliminary rounds will see all but the top-five seeded countries competing for a spot in the main event group stage.
BlizzCon 2019 Opening Ceremony
BlizzCon’s opening ceremony has been a thing to really look forward to every year. Not only is it meant to officially start the event, but it is also likely to be when Blizzard makes some of its biggest announcements (although, of course, the details of these announcements will be expanded on more in later panels).
The opening ceremony will run for one hour and starts on Friday, November 1 at 2:00 PM EDT.
BlizzCon 2019 Mystery Panels
Apart from the confirmed panels, Blizzard has left multiple open slots on the main “Mythic” stage that have yet to be announced. This is really interesting as it could suggest that these slots may offer more details on major projects that the studio has not revealed.
These “Coming Soon!” panels make up the entire first day for the main stage following the opening ceremony, when fans can expect for several announcements to be made about what the studio will be showing off during the convention.
