The final APAC Six Invitational Closed Qualifiers match between Xavier Esports and CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming just concluded. The finals were a best of five series with only one team qualifying for the Six Invitational. The matchup between Xavier and CAG was the most expected outcome of the final seeds.
The first map of the series was on Kafe Dostoyevsky. Xavier demolished CAG on the first map by outgunning them. The first map ended with a 7-1 score favoring Xavier, which honestly surprised everyone. But CAG was able to turn the momentum around on the other maps that allowed them to take a lead.
The final map of the series was played on Consulate. If you've watched CAG play on Consulate, you know they have weird strategies and rely tons on frag-heavy operators. The first round from CAG showed an impressive strategy. CAG opened the garage wall in less than 30 seconds. Then, they rushed into the site with the help of operators like Ying after using her candelas to blind the opponents. The rest of CAG followed after Ying and took the first round with ease.
CAG had an amazing fifth round where they managed to clutch a 2v4 situation. The Ash player from CAG rushed into the site killing three opponents, sacrificing herself, and leaving the round in a 1v1 situation. Twitch, having the better gun, was able to win the gunfight against the Smoke. Yet if Smoke had pre-fired or played aggressively, he could have won the round for Xavier.
CAG managed to win the final map with a 7-3 scoreline, making them one of the contenders in the Six Invitational.
