The gaming industry, like every other industry, has been greatly affected by the on-going Covid-19 outbreak. Many gaming events like GDC 2020, E3 2020, and multiple gaming tournaments, are either canceled or delayed until things get better. Multiple companies like Rockstar, CD Projekt Red, and Nvidia have adopted a remote work policy. Ubisoft has also now joined the list.
For the foreseeable future, Ubisoft’s developers will now work from home. Because of this, new development has been impacted. In a recent tweet, Rainbow Six developers told fans that smaller patches will be cut short. However, they also said that the new content that will release with the current update will still go as planned. Developers also said that they will tell fans if any major changes occur in the future update schedule.
"While the day-to-day play experience will remain unchanged on Rainbow Six Siege, we foresee that smaller patches will be cut in the short term," the tweet said. "This will not impact upcoming content that is ready for release in the current update. However, we are assessing the impact on future planned content releases and we will keep the community up to date on any shifts in timelines that might occur."
Just weeks ago, Rainbow Six Siege released its latest season, Void Edge, which introduced two new operators along with a reworked map. These small updates are quite crucial for Siege as they continuously tweak balancing issues and fix bugs that come with the new season. A month ago, developers announced that a new Arcade mode called Golden Gun mode will come during Season 1. We will see if this Covid-19 outbreak will affect the planned release date for the mode.
