There’s a rustling a brewing on the western front, with rumors that Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West is coming. According to an anonymous source over at Frag Hero, RDR 2 has been in development for four years and should be announced by Rockstar games at this year’s E3.
The western cult classic-shooter is rumored to be coming out in 2017, will feature more than one playable character and have a vast open world, even larger than the last RDR. An HD remake of the original game will be coming to the Xbox One and feature larger maps
All of this speculation should be “taken with a grain of salt,” Giant Frag says. The anonymous source supposedly acquired this information from a Rockstar ex-employee. Forbes says that this has to be a fake, pointing out that Rockstar has never released an AAA title at E3, so why would they start now?
There have been rumors circulating about a new Red Dead Redemption for years, with Take-two games saying that the franchise isn’t dead and that it’s a “permanent franchise.”
Red Dead Redemption still holds up today, and an HD remake would bring this masterpiece to today’s audience. Westerns are still a taboo subject in video games, the last game we got set back in those days was The Order: 1886 and we all know how that turned out.
Hopefully this rumor is legit, and we’ll get to shoot bad guys on horseback like it’s 2010 all over again.
