The dark fantasy tactical RPG Redemption Reapers is coming this February 2023 to PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
The game is set in a world where hope has started to fade after the sudden appearance of the ruthless Mort armies. They are efficient as they are brutal and have descended upon civilizations and leaving destruction in their wake. As whole nations start to fall from their onslaught, a contingent of mercenaries has banded together to fight back against the invading armies. These are the Ashen Hawk Brigade, which specializes in surprise tactics.
Players take on the role of one of the Ashen Hawk Brigade as they lead the group in tactical skirmishes on 3D maps. They get the chance to use strategic moves and direct units on the battlefield before issuing commands to attack, defend, or deploy skills during each turn. The odds may seem to be insurmountable at times, but they can be overcome by mastering sneak attacks and getting those extra damage or using powerful combo strikes from multiple Brigade members.
To meet the different challenges ahead, players need to make sure that each Brigade member has been outfitted with powerful gear. Players can obtain resources to craft weapons and armor. Don’t forget to upgrade skills and unlock combat abilities that can turn a ragtag group of underdogs to courageous champions.
Behind the Scenes
While the game may be new, it's made possible by a team of veterans including tactical RPG veteran Masayuki Horikawa, who worked on games like the Fire Emblem series and Kingdom Hearts. Meanwhile, players are treated to a star-studded voice cast featuring:
- Kyle McCarley (13 Sentinels: Aegis of Ruin, NieR: Automata).
- Allegra Clark (Apex Legends, Dragon Age: Inquisition).
- David Lodge (Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV).
- Lucien Dodge (Fire Emblem: Three Houses, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series).
Redemption Reapers is being developed by Adglobe and published by Binary Haze Interactive. In a statement, Binary Haze Interactive CEO Hiroyuki Kobayashi revealed that after the success of Ender Lilies, they wanted to focus on a new genre ideal for sharing their love of dark fantasy stories. He added that this upcoming game offers tactical RPG combat with emotional storytelling for a memorable experience.
