We’re getting close to Rocket League ’s second birthday, and to celebrate, developer Psyonix has teamed up with Adult Swim to create Rick and Morty items for the vehicular sports game. Other new features coming to Rocket League in the update include a new arena, new cars, the start of Season 5 and more.
The Rick and Morty items will include two new antennas, one for Rick and one for Morty. There will also be toppers featuring characters Mr. Meeseeks, Mr. PBH and Cromulon. Clearly Psyonix is trying to make us gamers show them what we got.
Additionally, an “interdimensional GB” rocket boost and “Sanchez DC-137” wheels can be earned as common drops given out after offline matches. All of the items can be seen in action in the GIF below.
For more normal items, the new arena coming in the second anniversary update is called Champions Arena. This arena looks fairly standard, featuring a massive Rocket League logo statue and triple-decker seating for all the virtual fans in attendance.
There are also two new battle-cars coming. The Animus GP looks like a Formula 1 racecar with a low profile and big tires, while the Centio V17 looks more like an exotic sportscar. Both vehicles can be found in Overdrive Crates, which will be available as limited drops after online matches.
As far as playing competitively, the Anniversary update will end Season 4 and start Season 5. A more comprehensive list of all the changes coming in Season 5 will be announced later, but Psyonix has confirmed that rewards for Season 4 will be handled differently than before. Trails, the flames or bubbles or whatever that shoot out of your car when you boost, can be replaced with a Season Reward Trail.
The second Anniversary update for Rocket League will be releasing on July 5. More content is planned for the update and, along with proper patch notes, will be released closer to the launch date.
