The first teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has finally arrived and if you thought Star Wars: The Force Awakens was soaking in those Original Trilogy juices just wait until you lay eyes on this.
But Rogue One looks like far more than bricolage of classic Star Wars moments, with an aesthetic unlike anything we’ve ever seen from the series. The first teaser trailer is loaded with street-level and military imagery more suitable to an urban war film than a Star Wars dogfight. However the movie turns out, this first look at Rogue One is already a landmark for presenting us the Star Wars universe in a way we’ve never quite seen before.

Rogue One stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, but this first teaser trailer also highlights Ben Mendelsohn’s caped Imperial officer and some of the other rogues and renegades that will accompany Jyn on her mission to steal the Death Star plans, including Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Donnie Yen.
The first Rogue One: A Star Wars Story teaser trailer is loaded with old school gadgets and characters, including Yavin Base, renegade senator and Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma, plus stormtroopers and AT-ATs galore.
The wait for Rogue One ’s Dec. 16 release date just got a lot harder.
