Romancing SaGa 3 is set to make its worldwide debut next week on November 11. The game was first released back in Japan in 1995 for the Super Famicom system. This new version has been rebuilt not only for modern consoles, but even for smartphones. A bit of trivia though, the release of the remade Romancing SaGa 3 falls on the same date as the original release.
There's no doubt about it, Romancing SaGa 3 has not only been completely revamped, but also packed full with optimized graphics. The design team made sure to come up with stunning brand-new pixel art for elements like backgrounds. There are also new features like, among others, added content and updated controls.
If you're not familiar, Romancing SaGa is an RPG that does things rather differently. For example, it features a unique free-form scenario system where players can experience a different narrative depending on which character you choose as well as the decisions made during the adventure.
The game lets players choose from eight different heroes, which means that are eight different narratives. In addition, since the choices matter on how the game plays out, there is a chance for a new story even if players picked the same hero again. The heroes are:
- Ellen Carson
- An active and lively woman, her strength is second to none in spite of her beautiful looks.
- Sarah Carson
- Ellen's shy and introverted sister, she embarks on a journey in order to find her strength and independence.
- Monika Ausbach
- This noblewoman loves her brother above all else. She is compassionate just as she is strong-willed.
- Mikhail Ausbach von Loanne
- Renowned for his political know-how and leadership, he is the older brother to Monika and marquis of Loanne.
- Katarina Laurand
- Calm and collected, this swordswoman works as a guard and serves as a caretaker to Monika.
- Julian Nord
- This childhood friend of Ellen and Sarah has been asked to join the Princess Guard, the group that protects Monika Ausbach.
- Thomas Bent
- Hailing from the prestigious Bent family, Thomas is greatly talented in matters of business.
- Khalid
- A wandering swordsman with a noble past, his prowess with a blade has earned him the nickname Tornado.
In terms of battles, the ones in Romancing SaGa 3 are turn-based. What this means is that everything from how your party is set up to how characters are positioned can have an impact on the battle. Each time a character attacks, there's a chance that they're going to get hit with a sudden flash of inspiration. Once that happens, your hero is going to learn a new attack or ability. Of course, there are also times it lets your hero dodge the enemy’s strike.
Romancing Saga 3 is set to be released on multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Windows 10, Steam, iOS and Android.
