The popular MMO game Runescape has been live for over 7,300 days. Its developer, Jagex, is celebrating the milestone with a Grand Party that offers a year of epic 20th anniversary-themed content. This event will run live on both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape versions.
This year-long event will feature a whole bunch of in-game content. It also includes an anniversary questline that takes players back through Runescape’s entire timeline. Another year-long storyline will reveal the rise of the Elder Gods.
Runescape being over two decades old still boasts over an impressive 173,000 concurrent users. The arrival of Old School Runescape and new anniversary content will likely bring more players back, which may set higher all-time concurrent users. Jagex is working hard on bringing the game on other platforms, such as mobile and tablet, with full launch support on Android and iOS.
“20 years of RuneScape is a massive milestone for Jagex and the games, and I thank our players for being on this incredible journey with us, especially when the games are enjoying their best years ever – so far!” stated Phil Mansell, Jagex CEO.
Jagex and Laced Records are currently under special partnership to release a special gold vinyl of the ‘RuneScape: Original Soundtrack Classics’ album. The album includes 24 tracks from the early days of RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. The limited-edition items will be available throughout the year, with a tutorial island pin badge being the first collectible.
