Samsung is committed to getting the Galaxy Note 7 back in stores as soon as possible. The manufacturer has indicated it plans to have new, safer models of the Galaxy Note 7 shipping as early as this week, following a statement from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration about recommendations for flying with the handset, which is at risk for spontaneously combusting.
“We are aware of the Federal Aviation Administration’s statement about the Galaxy Note 7. Consumer safety and peace of mind are our top priority. We plan to expedite new shipments of Galaxy Note 7 starting from this week in order to alleviate any safety concerns and reduce any inconvenience for our customers,” Samsung said in a statement Friday.
Replacement shipping for the Galaxy Note 7 in the U.S. is supposedly already underway. Tech blog SammyHub shared details Friday about when and where consumers can get new Galaxy Note 7 models in their country. Many countries will get new Galaxy Note 7 models during mid-to-late September and into October. However, other countries, including Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, India, Levant, Netherlands, Pakistan, Switzerland, Gulf have not indicated a definitive timeline for new models to ship.
Samsung Australia has also stated it will begin offering new models of the Galaxy Note 7 Sept. 21. Consumers will be able to tell whether they have a new model, which isn’t at risk of exploding, by looking for the IMEI code on the back on their smartphone. New devices will have a bar code with a large blue “S” on the side for “safe.” Australia is among countries with airlines that have banned travelers from bringing Galaxy Note 7 handsets on planes.
