The Galaxy S7 will be announced Feb. 21 in Barcelona. Samsung has confirmed the device’s unveiling date in a teaser video on its YouTube page after months of speculation. The event will begin at 10 a.m PST (1 p.m. EST) and will be live streamed from Samsung’s YouTube page.
The teaser alludes to the Galaxy S7 as the number 7 is highlighted within the cube in the video.
The video also teases that something having to do with VR will be announced at the Unpacked event. Subsequently, new details double down on previous reports that Samsung plans to release a 360 camera alongside the Galaxy S7. The device, codenamed “Project Beyond” will likely be called the Gear 360, SamMobile reported Monday. It is expected to capture video resolutions of up to 3,840-pixels-by-1,920-pixels and may include an internal battery and storage for use independent from a smartphone or VR headset. Several concept designs of the Gear 360 have surfaced; however, the actual look of the device remains unknown.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to feature a 5.1-inch Quad HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip or Samsung Exynos 8890 chip, depending on the model, 4GB of RAM and 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage options with expandable memory support, a 12.3-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 5-megapixel front camera and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow under Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. The device may also have a fingerprint scanner, and iris scanner and a ForceTouch component as its special features.
