Sigourney Weaver Cast As Main Villain In ‘The Defenders’

In a surprise move, Marvel has announced the main antagonist for The Defenders Netflix series will be Emmy-nominated Sigourney Weaver.

At the Iron Fist panel during New York Comic Con, Marvel President of Television Jeph Loeb brought out the main cast of The Defenders including Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Kristin Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and then prepared the crowd for the announcement of the main villain.

Teasing that The Defenders antagonist needs to be powerful enough to take on all four heroes, Sigourney Weaver was introduced.

Now, while the identity of Weaver’s character was not revealed (let the speculation begin!) you can narrow it down to Marvel characters who is, as Loeb puts it, powerful enough that The Defenders need to band together to take her down.

Expect a villain with enhanced abilities and possible mythical connections. With Iron Fist and Daredevil’s connection to the mystic arts, we could be getting someone really out there.
