The trailer of "Silent Hill f" suggests that there will be a lot of graphic scenes in the upcoming game, and this apparently does not sit well with Australia's Classification Board.
The game has been "Refused Classification," which means that the game cannot be released in Australia.
Is there really no hope for Australian gamers hoping to get their hands on "Silent Hill f" upon its release?
What 'Refused Classification' Means for 'Silent Hill f'
PC Gamer's report claims that the fact that "Silent Hill f" has been refused classification means that the game has been banned in Australia. The report also claims that the game may be too extreme for an R18+ rating, which may be why the Classification Board came out with its decision.
However, IGN has pointed out its own report that the rating was actually given by an automated rating tool. This means that the rating was not decided upon by the actual members of the Classification Board.
IGN says that because of this, there may be hope for "Silent Hill f." It remains to be seen as of writing if the members will alter the automated rating tool's decision.
'Silent Hill f'
The eighth mainline entry of the "Silent Hill" franchise, "Silent Hill f" will not be set in the fictional town where the franchise gets its name. Instead, it will be set in 1960s Japan, specifically in a fictional town that is overcome by a fog similar to previous "Silent Hill" games.
While a release date has yet to be announced as of writing, the game will be made available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
