You wanted more characters in Gears 5 and you got it. After listening to the feedback, developers at The Coalition have decided to add new characters in the game more frequently and are starting by adding the fan-favorite Carmine family, which probably means that they are all going to die fast. You can play as Anthony, Benjamin, and Gary Carmine. You can purchase all the characters, plus some skin sets and banners, for only $10. A Deluxe Carmine Bundle is also available which will give a unique skin for every Carmine, and is available for only 1800 Iron. If you don’t want to buy the new characters with real-life money then you can also grind them for free. You will have to earn 30000 XP and will have to craft their unique totem to unlock each character. It will be a bit of grind, but we think it’s worth it in the end.

The new additions are only available for multiplayer. The Coalition justified this by saying that they have other major plans for PVE.
From now on, more characters will be releasing, but they will be exclusive to multiplayer for a while. The new characters also don’t have any Arcade skillsets, which will help the developers push out more characters faster.
"We've heard loud and clear that you want to see more of your favorite Characters back sooner-- which is why we have scrapped our mandate of Characters needing to release with PvE or new Arcade skillsets," The Coalition said in their blog post. "By removing this mandate, this means we'll be able to release characters into the game more often and in higher volume just like you've asked us to do."
