Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are just a few months from being released. Many users who are considering buying either of the consoles might also be looking into investing in a brand new TV. Now, if you're going with the PlayStation 5, Sony has some interesting news for you.
Sony has announced two new Bravia-branded televisions and they are both being marketed as "Ready for PlayStation 5." The two models are Bravia Z90H and Z8H. These two models will be the first-ever televisions in the Bravia series to bear the label, assuring that your PlayStation 5 will make use of all its new features.
The PS5-ready televisions feature HDMI 2.1, a step up from the standard HDMI 2.0. The HDMI 2.1 cables are capable of transmitting more information than their predecessors. With a compatible HDMI 2.1 port, the television will be able to support 120 FPS at 4K resolution. This is not possible with the cables that the PS4 uses.
HDMI 2.1 also reduces latency. The PS5 comes with a low-latency mode and if the television supports low-latency, the console will automatically enable it. Both the newly announced Bravia televisions support low-latency mode, which will allow you to experience your games like never before.
The Bravia Z90H supports 4K resolution, but unfortunately, it doesn't support a 120Hz refresh rate. The other model, the Z8H, is an expensive one, but it features native 8K resolution and superfast 120 Hz refresh rate to make your games come alive.
Sony hasn't yet announced the release dates or prices for any of these "PlayStation 5-ready" TVs yet, but we can take a wild guess that the TVs will likely launch close to the PlayStation 5's launch, which is expected sometime this Holiday season.
