Not much is known about the upcoming PlayStation 5. Sony has only revealed the hardware specifications of the console. We also saw the very first demo of Unreal Engine 5 running on PS5. Other than that, Sony has stayed completely silent. We don’t even know the next-gen launch lineup. All of this could change in a couple of days.
According to a report published by Bloomberg and later verified by VentureBeat, Sony is planning to host a digital event on June 3. The digital event will reveal more information about the console, however it will not answer every question fans may have. Sony is planning to host more events down the line, so they will probably hold onto some information.
We don't know whether Sony will reveal the price tag or not, or if they will wait for Microsoft to announce first. The company wants to make a profit on the hardware while also keeping the price tag close to the Xbox Series X. PlayStation 5's launch date has also not been revealed. That said, we do know that Sony is aiming for a Fall 2020 release window. It has yet to be seen whether the on-going Covid-19 pandemic will affect the launch date or not. If things don’t slow down then we could see a delay.
We also have no word about upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusives. Sony could really win some fans if it announced and showed some of its next-gen titles. After the disappointing presentation by Xbox, this is a great chance for Sony to get a one-up over the Series X. There is a pretty good chance that one of these exclusives could be a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel. Months old rumors have suggested that game is incredibly massive and will feature mind-blowing graphics. I am personally hoping for a new God of War. It would also be amazing to see a revival of old franchises like a new Twisted Metal game, so uhh Sony, come on, make it happen.
