South Park will never die as long as Comedy Central is around. Season 20 is next up on the horizon and will premiere on September 14, 2016 . The show has only matured like a fine wine, evolving from a show with a guy that has sex with chickens to a show mocking its original premise. Season 19 of South Park was one of its best, making fun of all the inappropriate characters that inhabit a little mountain town in Colorado.
Comedy Central said in a statement: “South Park remains the bedrock of Comedy Central and we are thrilled that new episodes will continue to entertain audiences for years to come. The series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in it continues to draw generations of new fans.”
We don’t know if the creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker plan to continue the PC Principal story line, or go in an entirely different direction. The creators make each episode in a week, trying to stay as up to date as possible. I look forward to them mocking Tesla, Donald Trump (again) and whatever Kanye West is doing now.
South Park has lasted the test of time because it’s constantly evolving for its viewer base. The teenagers and kids who loved poop and fart jokes have grown up and have to worry about grown up problems. Now those poop jokes come packaged with social commentary.
