Things are starting to heat up for this year’s E3, as the legendary developer and publisher Square Enix has now announced some details regarding 2019's presentation.
The biggest gaming event of the year is less than two months away now, and many publishers, developers and other gaming-oriented companies have begun outlining their plans for this year’s E3. Just last week, Microsoft confirmed their annual Xbox press conference for June 9 at 4 p.m. EDT. The presentation is set to include major surprises, and we might finally get some details surrounding their next-gen console.
Now, Square Enix has also announced its plans for a live presentation at the event. The Square Enix Live broadcast is set to take place on June 10, the day after Microsoft’s event. It will be held at 9 p.m. EDT, which avid followers of E3 should know was previously the slot occupied by Sony’s E3 press conference. Sony, of course, is notably absent from this year’s event, leaving quite a large gap for other publishers and developers to take advantage of.
The Square Enix Live broadcast presentation is going to air online on the company’s website, as well as all its social media outlets. There hasn’t been much news with regards to what Square Enix will reveal during this upcoming event, only that the company has hinted at focusing on “another exciting line up of titles.” During last year’s E3, Square Enix revealed and showcased games such as Kingdom Hearts 3, which was released earlier this year, and Just Cause 4, which was released last year.
Last year’s omission of the much-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake didn’t go unnoticed, though, and a lot of fans are hyping up that this year will finally be the year that the game will be announced officially. The game was first teased back during Sony’s E3 2015 appearance, and little has been heard of it since then. There may be inklings of its presence though, as evidenced by the recent announcement of a symphonic orchestra showcasing Final Fantasy VII music, which will be held a couple of days before E3 and will also be performed in Los Angeles, the same city as E3. We may also see an appearance from the Avengers game being developed by Crystal Dynamics, as well as the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest XI, which is set to be released this year.
E3 2019 officially kicks off on June 11, Tuesday. Stay tuned for more information and our pending coverage for the whole event right as it happens.
