The March 2016 Nintendo Direct revealed a lot more details regarding the next installment of the Star Fox franchise, including a brand new game called Star Fox Guard.
What was once called Project Guard, has become Star Fox Guard where you place security cameras and defenses to keep enemies out of Grippy's mining facility. It's a tower defense game that will have 100 missions. You'll also be able to create some levels and send them to your friends.
But Star Fox Guard wasn't the only announcement. Some new details of Star Fox Zero were revealed, as well.
The plot and game structure of Star Fox Zero will be similar to the Nintendo 64 version, but will have different mechanics that make Zero unique.
Teleporters in stages were shown that will play a big role in Star Fox Zero. There are also alternate paths in each stage that you can explore. At the end, there will be new bosses that are not accessed in any other way.
Star Wolf and his gang will be in the game and make your team's journey more difficult. Venom and Andross are the main objectives but the way you get to them are differnet. You can play Zero in multiple ways.
There’s a two-player mode, where you can play co-op. One player will control the ship, the other will control the guns.
The Fox amiibo from the Super Smash series will allow for players to use the classic Arwing from the Star Fox 64 game. Check out the new gameplay footage from the Nintendo Direct below.
Both Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard will be available in its physical form for one price. If you only want one game, you can purchase each separately in the eShop.
Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard will be released on April 22 after some delays, but Nintendo is ready to roll out the biggest Wii U game of the year so far.
