Star Trek Online revealed the latest offering for its Infinity Lock Box, and it’s an all-new Starship. The Saturn-class Intel Science Spearhead (T6) is set to arrive on December 7 on both PC and consoles. This Federation starship was first seen in Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery. Today, we’ll take a closer look at what this new ship has to offer.
What makes this ship stand out from the rest is the unique ring-like design of its primary hull. In fact, it’s called Saturn-class in honor of the rings on the namesake planet. However, this design is not all for show. The shape allows the starship to use negative space within the ring to isolate and study dangerous phenomena at close proximity. It also allowed for the pioneering of more efficient methods of energy manipulation for space flight at both impulse and warp scales. This last breakthrough would later prove to be valuable, especially after The Burn.
Captains can look forward to the ship’s Chakram Projector. This particular ring-like turret is a result of using programmable matter arrays and is employed further to project the accompanying disc of high-velocity abrasive material. The ring of particulates can tear into the hull of enemy starships and even strip their armor in the process. In both cases, the ring deals kinetic damage and renders affected foes to be more susceptible to other sources of kinetic damage.
For the trait, the Saturn class has Automated Triage. As long as this trait is slotted, a Captain who has below 50% Hull immediately restores 10% of their Maximum Hull then an extra 20% over 10 seconds. The same effect happens to any Ally within five kilometers. Learn more about the new starship here.
Bonus for Console Players
In addition to the starship mentioned, console players can also get another new ship from the Infinity Lock Box. The United Earth Defense Force Vessel (T6) is arriving on December 7 as well. Like the Saturn class, this one was also first seen in Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery.
This same starship was first made available on PC back in November. Read more about it here.
