Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is now finally complete. EA recently announced in an official blog post that the game will receive its last update today. This news comes as a surprise, as only a few days ago the publishing giant announced that Battlefield 5's post-launch support was also coming to an end.
Battlefront 2 has had a weird journey. The game was released back in 2017 and had one of the worst launches in the gaming industry. Initially, Battlefront 2 had so many pay-to-win mechanisms that it sparked a massive outrage in the community. The company’s response even became the most downvoted comment in Reddit’s history. The anti-consumer practices were so blatant that some governments also had to get involved. All of this forced EA to rework loot boxes and make the game more fair for everyone.
After the initial disaster, the game made a complete 180. It received several massive updates that added more modes and maps, all for free. Thanks to this, the game was able to bring back many pissed off fans. As of now, Battlefront 2 is quite a good game that offers a lot of content. The player base is also large enough that it is easy to try out most of the modes.
The last update, which will launch today, is called The Battle of Scarif and is heavily inspired by Star Wars: Rogue One. However, the update will focus more on the original trilogy (unarguably the best one).
"Developing characters, worlds, and experiences set in this amazing galaxy that is Star Wars is an honor, and it has continued to be a remarkable, challenging, and ultimately rewarding journey for the entire team. Knowing that we have a passionate community of millions of players and Star Wars fans – just like ourselves – along on the ride, is the greatest inspiration we could ever have," Creative Director Dennis Brännvall said in the official post.
After today’s update, there will be no new content. However, that shouldn’t stop players from coming back to the game. EA also promised that after the massive update, the game will still receive in-game challenges and repeating events.
