In an interesting turn of events, it seems that Pokkén Tournament will be compatible with every amiibo. No, not every Pokémon amiibo, EVERY amiibo.
This news comes by way of the Nintendo website. The site details the amiibo features of Pokkén Tournament, and only specifically mentions two features. The first is the Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, that when tapped on the Wii U Gamepad, unlocks the Shadow Mewtwo character to play with.
The second amiibo feature is the more curious one, saying that all amiibo accessories will be compatible with Pokkén Tournament. While the specific features were not mentioned, the site does say they will unlock in-game items.
So what should players actually expect when they tap their Kirby amiibo to their gamepad when playing Pokkén Tournament? Costumes. Lots and lots of costumes and other cosmetic unlocks. Of course, it should be noted that this is speculation, and nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo as of yet.
Speaking of the Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, only physical copies of Pokkén Tournament will get a Shadow Mewtwo card included with their game. Digital versions of Pokkén Tournament will not have access to the card.
So what do you think? Are you curious to see what your non-Pokémon amiibo figures will do in Pokkén Tournament? What do you hope they will do? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
