The first Pokémon games will be ready to purchase and download from the Nintendo eShop on Feb. 27 to celebrate 20 years of the franchise.

Players can download the Red, Blue and Yellow versions to their New Nintendo 3DS for a taste of nostalgia. With the announcement of Pokémon Sun and Moon and news that the Pokémon you catch in RBY can be transferred to Sun and Moon via the Pokémon Bank app , players may want to get their favorite Gen 1 ‘mon to the Gen 7 game.

Those who remember when Pokémon RBY was first released can recall the glitches that were present in those games: ghost-type attacks didn’t hit psychic types as intended, Focus Energy had the opposite effect it was meant to have, etc. Probably the most infamous of all the glitches was the ‘MissingNo.’ glitch.

MissingNo. was a glitch that trainers used to clone some desirable items and even catch a desireable Pokémon, like those found in the Safari Zone.

However, with the re-release of the games for the 3DS it would make sense to fix those bugs and glitches, right? Well, it seems that MissingNo. is alive and well in the new Red and Blue versions.

There’s a video that’s circulating online showing the ‘MissingNo.’ glitch in the 3DS version of Red and Blue. Check it out from YouTube user, Epi Demie:

While the audio is in German, it does show the classic method to exploiting the ‘MissingNo.’ glitch in Red and Blue to cloning your desired item.

Red, Blue and Yellow have not been released on the North American eShop at the time of this writing, so we cannot confirm the glitch. Still, it’s interesting to think that this glitch will remain after 20 years.
