Super Mario Maker continues to see free updates, and the next one will be coming March 9. Included in the update are a ton of new tools and tricks to use when making levels.
The new tools, as mentioned at the 8:30 mark in the Nintendo Direct above, are as follows:
Shaking a Thowmp will turn it into a Skewer from Super Mario World
Shaking a P-switch will turn it into a key
Shaking a door turns it into a key door
This makes mandatory boss battles possible
Shaking coins turns them into pink coins
Collecting all of the pink coins will create a key, forcing players to collect all the pink coins in a given level
Additionally, a Super Expert mode for 100 Mario Challenge has been created. To unlock this mode, players must beat the Expert Mode for 100 Mario Challenge.
Like any good update, the March 9 update will also include new costumes. 12 new outfits will be unlockable through the 100 Mario Mode, with The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker’s Tetra being confirmed in the Direct.
