There are many rumors already circulating for the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 and more keep surfacing every day. The most recent suggests Samsung will include a new Snapdragon chip in the upcoming flagship phablet.
According to reports from China, published by tech blog SamMobile , the Galaxy Note 6 may include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 chip, which includes a 64-bit Kryo 2.6GHz quad-core and Adreno 530 GPU. The chip would be able to support up to 8GB of RAM, according to the original social media post, which likely came from Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 For Galaxy Note 6 Unlikely
Of course, no rumors or reports about the Galaxy Note 6 can be confirmed at this time. However, based on Samsung’s previous launch for the Galaxy Note line, this rumor may not be that plausible. In 2015, the manufacturer used in the Galaxy Note 5, the same Exynos 7420 chip it introduced in the Galaxy S6. Taking this into consideration, it is possible Samsung could use the same chips that are currently in the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in its upcoming phablet.
Samsung is currently shipping the Galaxy S7 with the either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or its own Exynos 8890 chip, depending on the market. Using these same chips for the Galaxy Note 6 could be a way of saving money for Samsung. This could also leave other future devices, like the Galaxy S8, open to have beefier specs.
Galaxy Note 6 May Launch Before Qualcomm Snapdragon 823
If the Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 is on the way, it may be available in time to power devices that will release in the latter half of the year. However, current rumors suggest the Galaxy Note 6 may launch as early as July. If true, the Galaxy Note 6 may launch before the Snapdragon 823 available for future 2016 flagships.
In 2015, the Galaxy Note 5 launched in August, while the Snapdragon 820 launched in November . Even if the Galaxy Note 6 also launches in August, the upcoming processor still may not be available for months to come.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Not Powerful Enough For 8GB RAM
If the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 doesn’t have a chip like the Snapdragon 823, other rumors surrounding the device may also be debunked. Some early rumors suggested the Galaxy Note 6 may feature 6GB of RAM , since Samsung is now mass producing RAM at that capacity. However, in order to run such high-capacity RAM, a device needs a powerful processor.
But at this time, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 supports up to 4GB of RAM. If the Galaxy Note 6 featured the Snapdragon 820, it would likely also feature 4GB RAM.
