Pokémon Go is one of the many ways Nintendo and the Pokémon Company are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the franchise. The innovative mobile app that allows users to physically travel and capture Pokemon is set to release in 2016, but a hard release date hasn’t been revealed yet.

However, Pokémon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara revealed in an interview with the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper which regions will receive Pokémon Go first when it’s eventually rolled out.

In the interview -- via Serebii -- Japan, Europe and North America were revealed to be the first regions to receive the mobile app. Ishihara did say in the interview that South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East will get the mobile game later on.

Unfortunately, Ishihara couldn’t give a firm release date for Pokémon Go in the interview but it may not be much longer before the public finally gets one.

In March, the 2016 GDC will be hosting a panel with Niantec, the minds behind Pokémon Go. According to the official GDC website , Niantec will be presenting Pokémon Go to attendees, and will explain in-depth what people can expect from one of the most anticipated mobile apps of the year.

And as we wait for the Pokémon Go release date, Ishihara had time to tease another Pokémon project coming in 2016. The CEO said that another “big” project in the Pokémon series is underway.

Immediately, Pokémon Z or another main Nintendo 3DS game comes to mind, but that is only speculation at this point.

So what do you think of the Pokémon Go region releases and the tease of another “big” Pokémon venture? Is it Pokémon Z or something else? Sound off in the comments section below.
