It’s finally here! Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. As if that’s not enough, it’s also available on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X through backward compatibility.
The game was actually first released back in 2005, making this version a re-release that fixes some of the issues in the old version. Some of the improvements in the new version include better game stability, fewer bugs, and support to modern resolution including 4K.
So what’s the game about? It starts in 1933 and focuses on a poor traveling salesman named Edward "Stubbs" Stubblefield. He manages to find a bit of happiness with Maggie Monday.
However, he meets an unfortunate end as he is killed by Maggie’s father Otis who then dumps his body in the wilderness. After 26 years, in 1959, that wilderness has since become the city of Punchbowl, Pennsylvania, founded by Andrew Monday, Maggie’s son. Stubbs rises from the dead to exact his revenge.
Unlike other zombie games, players take on the role of a zombie and experience the following unique features:
- Eat Brains
- Players have the chance to eat the living to recharge their bodily weapons of zombie sputum, gut grenades, and even unholy flatulence.
- Build Your Zombie Horde
- As a zombie, players can convert humans into undead, which become their allies. They can use these new zombies to lead an assault against the living.
- Possess Punchbowl’s Population
- Don’t forget to clamp that severed hand to a barbershop quartet singer’s head and raygun away.
- Bring Civilization to its Knees
- It’s time to show the city of Punchbowl that they can never escape the past.
- Stubbs and Chill
- Players can invite a friend to play as Grubbs for that classic couch cooperative game.
Now that you know what the game offers, what would a game be without achievements right? Some of the achievements that players can get include:
- That didn’t age well: Complete the painfully slow, forced tutorial.
- I make a PP: Soil the water supply with your finely aged urine.
- Get lost: We know you did.
A digital copy of the game is being offered at $19.99 and available at:
