SUPERHOT is a weird, unique, strange and innovative shooting game. Though originally released back in February on the PC, the long awaited Xbox One version is here. If you were waiting to try out SUPERHOT, stop and just get it.

NOTE: This review focuses mostly on the Xbox One port and less on SUPERHOT itself. If you want to know our thoughts on the game, please read the original SUPERHOT review.

After playing through SUPERHOT again on Xbox One, it’s an almost identical game to the one we’ve already played. The major difference is, naturally, the use of a gamepad instead of a mouse and keyboard. There are a few advantages the mouse and keyboard do have over a controller that make the PC version slightly better.

The big thing is control. While you can go into the settings and make your Xbox One controller more sensitive, a mouse really helps you line up the shots for when time kicks back in. A controller works, a mouse just feels better.

The other advantage playing on a PC has over a console is the immersion you’ll feel playing it. SUPERHOT is made to look like you’re playing on a PC and chatting with friends online. Getting that MS-DOS appearance on your TV from a console doesn’t look and feel right, and can come off a little jarring.

Technically, everything else here is the same. The graphics are comparable, the game runs smoothly and there are still those weird little bonus files you can poke around. The only strange technical issue I noticed was during the static transitions. It seems like the animation stops playing towards the end, breaking immersion a little again. It’s a small issue, but it’s definitely something I noticed.

Overall, SUPERHOT on Xbox One is pretty much as good as it is on PC. If you were stuck on which version to get, I would lean towards the PC over the Xbox One version, but that’s for small things like control preferences and minor performance enhancements. You’ll still get the same crazy story and experience regardless of what platform you play on.

So what do you think? Will you be getting SUPERHOT now that it is on Xbox One? Have you already played it on PC? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
