Publisher Bandai Namco has just announced the arrival of hit rhythm game Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack for the Nintendo Switch. It is set to arrive worldwide via the Nintendo eShop this coming winter.
Initially released only in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS in 2014 and 2016, Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack will contain two games known as Taiko no Tatsujin: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure and Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikū Daibōken. For those who do not know, Taiko no Tatsujin is a rhythm game franchise mostly released exclusively for Japan. Players tap along to a wide array of original music by mimicking the use of the titular Taiko drum. The iconic Taiko drum (which I actually first saw as a cosmetic item in Tekken 7) is named Don-chan, who sets out on adventures “that will transcend time and space and save the world from mysterious occurences around the world”. In its Story Mode, players control Don-chan in Taiko battles by drumming on it to attack. Failure to hit a specific note will mean retaliation from enemies.
The pack, which contains two games, will have players meeting several adorable characters that will either prevent or help them from achieving their quest. Some of these are Tocky and Ticky and the evil Professor Timedyne, Katsu, and The Hexagaria Magical Society. The game’s song library consists of over 130 songs including six newly added titles such as “Pretender” by Official Hige Dandism and “Gurenge” from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba!.
The most recent western release from the Taiko no Tatsujin series was in 2018, when Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun launched for the Nintendo Switch. It is exciting to see what other games that were only made for Japan will be having their worldwide or localized releases soon.
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack will be launching for the Nintendo Switch worldwide this coming winter. The game will also launch in Japan under the name Taiko no Tatsujin: Dokodon RPG Pack!, and will come with a physical edition release.
