SMITE is a MOBA where players control mythological figures and take part in team-based battles. This November a technological world arrives in the game to shake things up. That’s because the latest crossover is none other than the Transformers.
What does this mean exactly? Players get to fight as Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream through skins made available by the Transformers Battle Pass. Of course, they wouldn’t be called that if they can’t “transform” right? Not to worry since they can actually do that. Starscream can convert into a jet, Megatron into a tank, and of course, Optimus Prime into a truck.
Each Transformer offers two forms with the first one in the SMITE art style and the second one in a rendering inspired by the TV show, movie, and toys of the 80s.
To access these skins, players need to buy the Transformers Battle Pass and play online matches to progress through the levels and unlock different rewards. In addition to six skins, players can look forward to a ward skin depicting Kremzeek and a loading frame showing Autobots going against Decepticons. There are also Level-up effects straight from Cybertron.
In a statement, Hi-Rez VP of Brand Alex Cantatore said that knowing Optimus Prime is going to save the day on the Battleground of the Gods . He added that they always believed that SMITE is the ultimate crossover game as it can bring the different myths together.
Meanwhile, SMITE Executive Producer Travis Brown shared that some employees at Titan Forge Games actually have Transformers toys on their desks. This was truly a labor of love bringing the robots to life in the game. Brown further said that the team went above and beyond for this crossover.
The Transformers Battle Pass is available for purchase next month. A full reveal of the crossover skins along with other information on the Battle Pass will be broadcast live through Twitch on October 27 at 3:00 p.m. EDT.
SMITE is a MOBA with at least 35 million players enjoying a growing roster of more than 110 Gods and Goddesses from different mythologies around the world. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
