Developer Treyarch extended the double XP weekend event for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 after discovering a major issue related to rewards for players.

The studio said that it would continue to "assess and balance progression tuning" throughout the event's extended period. The issue that Treyarch identified was that there was an occasional limitation to the amount of bonus experience that some players received.

Double XP Event Extended

Treyarch first acknowledged the issue in a social media post on X on Nov. 3, 2024, and has now extended the event to last until Nov. 5, 2024.

The studio said that it addressed the root cause of the problem that sometimes limited the experience that some players got during the event.

The situation comes as there were various reports that showed players calling on publisher Activision to temporarily suspend the AFK timer in the game's Zombie mode. This came as they tried to work on uncovering the Liberty Falls easter egg, according to Eurogamer.

There were many online threads that got hundreds of replies and were upvoted thousands of times as they talked about the recent issue.

Many users on Reddit also shared their frustrations when they were suddenly kicked out for inactivity even when they were playing by themselves.

On top of extending the double experience event, Treyarch also gave players more time to enjoy the double Gobblegum earn rate in Zombies mode. Many players are praising the decision as the first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is fast approaching.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Issue

A lot of players have been complaining about the need to grind in the game as they work through the prestige ranks. This is even more beneficial to players who did not actually suffer from the recently acknowledged bug in the event, PCGamesN said.

The fix that Treyarch introduced came after many players, including some content creators, complained that the double XP event did not feel real.

This was because they did not notice any difference in the amount of experience that they got for playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Content creator @IceManIsaac posted on X wondering whether or not there was an experience cap that was put in the game. Many others replied in the same thread and acknowledged that they too experienced the issue, according to Sportskeeda.

Players can now enjoy a whole day of extended double XP shenanigans and earn more tokens. You are able to get double experience from promotions, purchasing bundles, or simply progressing through the battle pass.
