Video game developer Two Point Studios was spawned out of creators from both Bullfrog Productions and Lionhead Studios, the companies that brought us games like Theme Hospital and Fable. Now, it looks like the studio is hard at work on its first project through its publishing partnership with Sega, if a new tweet is any indication.
Two Point Studios previously announced back in November that it will show off its first game on Jan. 16. That day's about to roll around, and it looks like we’ll learn something about the new title soon. Luckily, we’re not going into it blind—job listings we’ve seen around since last year’s announcement have mentioned that the game will be a successor of some sort to games like Theme Hospital and Theme Park. Specifically, it’ll be a “fun, deep and elegantly-crafted business management sim.”
Furthermore, users at the forum ResetEra discovered on Friday that Two Point has registered a trademark for "Two Point Hospital," so it’s likely the game will fall in line with Theme Hospital and titles of that ilk. Bullfrog’s popular sim game released back in 1997 for PC and tasked players with the design and operation of a hospital that was meant to help patients recover from hilarious and strange illnesses like Bloaty Head or Alien DNA, which out and out turned patients into aliens.
The new game will hopefully adopt the same kind of dark humor and silliness, but we still don’t know a lot about it beyond supposition. We'll be hearing a lot more about the game when Tuesday rolls around. So if you're a Theme Hospital fan, let's hope for something in that vein. It would make an awesome surprise to get our 2018 started, that's for sure.
