Starting today, Ubisoft is giving The Division away for free on Uplay for a limited time. Purchasing games is a great way to build your collection, but no one should pass up a free giveaway opportunity.
The limited-time giveaway announcement was made earlier today on Ubisoft's official Twitter page, alerting players that the game will only be free for a limited time. PC players can claim The Division by heading to their Uplay account or by creating a free account if they don't already have one. The game should already show up on the main page, and if it doesn't, they can search for it. According to the tweet, the giveaway will last until September 8. Once the game has been claimed and added to your library, you can play it anytime. Xbox fans can also enjoy the game for free, as it is a part of Xbox's free Games With Gold in September.
The Division is coincidentally set in post-pandemic New York. In the game, players assume the role of a special agent from the Strategic Homeland Division, who has to rebuild the torn down city and deal with criminals that have been taking advantage of the situation. The Division was released in 2016 and it features an online-only open world. Even though the game did not receive great reviews from gamers, many people actually enjoyed the experience.
Having learned from past experience, Ubisoft released the sequel, The Division 2, in 2019. The sequel was much better received than its predecessor. Since its release, The Division 2 has continued to receive several updates to keep the game balanced. If you're new to the series, we highly recommend that you use this opportunity to play the first game and, if you enjoy the experience, you may want to hop on over to the sequel later.
The Division is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
