Warcraft 3: Reforged may not have received much love from the fans but it looks like Blizzard is not giving up on it just yet. The game recently released Patch 1.32.6, which offers a lot of changes. For the heroes, the change focuses on the cost and functionality of hero ultimate abilities in order to make sure that they are more competitive. Items are going to be improved as well, particularly charged levels 5 and 6.
Warcraft 3: Reforged was launched in January of this year after months of hype. However, just after launch the game received a lot of complaints. For some players, they felt as if the final version didn’t have as many improvements compared to what was promised. Then there was the issue of the Terms of Service, specially the one on copyright. Read more about that here.
That didn’t stop there, as Warcraft 3: Reforged became on the of worst games ever according to Metacritic and forced Blizzard to offer refunds.
With so many changes, we’re just going to look at the big highlights here. For Humans, the Paladin received a buff with Resurrection mana cost lowered to 150. By lowering the mana cost, the development team hopes that this should boost the desirability of the ultimate. Resurrection already has a restriction and the hero generally spends mana casting Holy Light to keep units alive.
For the Orcs, the Shadow Hunter got a buff with Big Bad Voodoo mana cost now at 150 from 200. Like with Paladin, this was lowered to help with mana tension.
For Night Elf, the Druids received buffs as well. Druid of the Claw, for example, had base damage increased to 24. This should allow for more power, especially in mid-to-late game. For Druid of the Talon, the gold cost is lowered to 135. The gold cost for this hero was previously increases due to balance concerns, especially with the Orc vs. Night Elf matchup. However, with the change in the meta, the lowered cost should hopefully encourage their usage.
When it comes to the Undead, the Animate Dead for the Death Knight was lowered to 125 from 175. This ability was seen as one of the lower tier ones and buffing it too much was determined by the team as being unwise. The mana cost reduction should be enough with the perceived power level.
As mentioned, items have had changes as well. Potion of Greater Mana, for instance, had mana restored to 250. Meanwhile for Potion of Mana, the mana restored was lower to 125 while gold cost is now 150. According to the team, they wanted to scale back what Potion Greater Mana had to offer while also experimenting with the regular Potion of Mana. With the reduction in the gold cost, this should make it more gold-efficient while also aligning with the gold price of the Potion of Healing.
