More than a decade after its initial release in 2011, developer and publisher Koei Tecmo has finally launched Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition on PC via Steam, bringing one of the best games in the hack-and-slash Musou genre to the platform. This release is a port of the third re-release that first launched on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita called Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate. To celebrate the arrival on PC, Koei Tecmo also revealed a special Steam trailer which you can check out below.
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition is the fourth entry in the popular crossover series Warriors Orochi, coming from two of Koei Tecmo’s most beloved franchises: Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. Omega Force, one of Koei Tecmo’s action divisions, originally developed the game in 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It also acts as a direct sequel to Warriors Orochi 2.
As its predecessors, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition is an action hack-and-slash Musou game featuring characters from Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. It is notable for its huge roster of characters, totaling 145 unique heroes to choose from. Besides the crossover characters, it also features special heroes from other Koei Tecmo series such as Kasumi from Dead or Alive 5, Sterkenburg Cranach from the Atelier Arland games, and Sophitia from Soul Calibur.
Another notable feature in the game is the jam-packed storyline which continues after the main mission campaign in the form of specific character scenarios. This includes a pseudo-sequel that takes place after the main storyline, a prequel that covers the secrets within Orochi’s birth, and a wide selection of “What If?” storylines for various character perspectives.
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition is priced at $39.99 and it includes all additional pieces of DLC released over the years. In total, there are over 500 DLC items, ranging from weapons and costumes to various scenarios involving different characters. Also exclusive to this PC release is the introduction of visual optimizations and mouse and keyboard support for those who prefer the control scheme over controllers.
