In Empire Season 2 episode 13, which airs at 9 p.m. EST Wednesday, Lucious will reveal details about his past that most people in his family don’t even know. Previously, Jamal revealed publicly that Lucious Lyon isn’t his father’s real name. We know that Lucious told Jamal his real name is Dwight Walker at the end of Season 1.
In an episode 13 first look, we learn that Lucious never even told Cookie his real name. Cookie has been hell bent on fixing her family since she left prison in Season 1. She realizes the person who needs her help the most is Lucious.
It’s Cookie’s birthday and the Lyon matriarch wants to get the family together for dinner. But when she shows them a rough cut of the music video for Lucious’ song Boom Boom Boom Boom, the evening turns sour. The drama that ensues after the video is played could be enough to break the Lyon family apart even further.
It is likely that Andre learns about his grandmother, who was bipolar and committed suicide when his father was a child. Andre has struggled with his own bipolar disorder throughout the series. In Season 1, Andre is so distraught that he attempts to kill himself by playing Russian Roulette in his father’s recording studio. In a future episode, Andre will visit his grandmother’s grave after learning the truth.
Andre may also finally learn why his father has always been so cold toward him. Lucious was traumatized by his mother’s mental illness, as her manic and depressive states often made it hard for her to care of him. In a flashback shown in early Season 2, Lucious’ mother, Leah Walker, attempts to drown him in a bathtub. Lucious is 8 years old when his mother commits suicide, which then led him to homelessness and drug dealing to take care of himself. However, that eventually led to his music career and the start of Empire Enterprises.
But will the Lyon family survive this new rift now that the truth about Lucious Lyon will be revealed? We will find out in the coming episode, called “The Tameness of a Wolf,” which is best viewed in television or live online through Fox Now .
Meanwhile, Hakeem must deal with the aftermath of Camilla’s death. Lucious knows the truth, but appears to be taunting Hakeem by placing the blame on him. The two remain adversaries while Hakeem remains CEO of Empire Enterprises. But neither realizes they are fighting for the same goal, to keep Empire in the family.
At this point, we don’t know whether Camilla is really dead. But we’re sure to learn the truth in a coming episode.
Hakeem is still in a relationship with Laura, the lead singer of his Latina girl group, Mirage a Trois. The group is on tour with Tiana, who happens to be Hakeem’s ex-girlfriend. There is so much tension between Laura and Tiana that tabloids are catching on and suggesting that Tiana wants to leave the tour, which she happens to be headlining.
Jamal warns Hakeem that he shouldn’t be involved with his artist, but Hakeem is convinced that being a mogul should have certain perks.
The rest of the story unfolds Wednesday, when Empire airs at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
