In Empire Season 2 episode 15, which airs at 9 p.m. EST Wednesday, there is once again heavy competition between several members of the Lyon family. Lucious and Jamal continue to go head-to-head as the two are nominated for the same American Sound Award (ASA), Song of the Year.
Now that Hakeem has been voted out as CEO of Empire Enterprises, Lucious is working to prove to shareholders than he should be reinstated as head of the company. Andre is once again making a play to be his father’s second in command.
Hakeem is stepping up after learning that Anika is pregnant with his baby. She confides in him that Lucious, her former fiance, threatened her life after the baby is born. It is not certain whether threat will be related to Anika’s medical emergency during the episode. Cookie happens to be there and offers Anika support, despite their past differences.
News of Anika’s pregnancy also threatens to break up Hakeem’s relationship with his girlfriend, Laura. In clips from episode 15, she is seen slapping Hakeem as he tells her about the baby.
Lucious has established an fundraiser organization called the Bipolar Alliance as part of his play for CEO, for which Andre, who suffers from bipolar disorder, is the face. Reporter Harper Scott has been investigating the Lyon family and uncovers a secret of Lucious’, which she shares with Andre. While Lucious told his family that his mother was also bipolar and committed suicide when he was a child, episode 14 alludes that this may not be the truth. The episode ends with Lucious’ crooked lawyer, Thirsty Rawlings, at a nursing home, where an employee returns to him what appears to be an envelope of cash. The camera pans to inside a room in the nursing home where an elderly woman sings.
Will Andre learn in episode 15 that his grandmother, Leah Walker, is actually alive? We will find out in the coming episode, called “More Than Kin,” which is best viewed in television or live online through Fox Now .
