The 88th annual Academy Awards has finally arrived. Hollywood’s most prestigious night is set to honor this year’s biggest stars in the world of movies. Comedian Chris Rock will host the 2016 Oscars, in light of yet another year of #OscarsSoWhite. It will be interesting to see how Rock handles the controversy, as well as if Leonardo DiCaprio can finally win a trophy and, of course, the crowning of Best Picture.
Here are all the details: the 2016 Oscars will kick-off Sunday, Feb. 28 live from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. While the ABC telecast begins with a red carpet pre-show at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT, the ceremony won’t get underway until 8:30 p.m. ET, 5:30 p.m. local time. Of course the easiest way to watch the Oscars is on a television, but there are online live stream options via ABC if you are away from your TV.
How to Watch the 2016 Oscars Online Live Stream
To live stream the 2016 Oscars online, head over to ABC.com or download the WATCH ABC app. Both will feature a complete live stream of the ceremony, though they will each require a television provider account. Twitter also presents an alternative option to keep up with the Oscars in real-time. In addition, the Academy will post live streams of the Oscars on Facebook for the first-time ever. For those interested in celebrity interviews and fashion, there are free live streams of the red carpet available from the Oscars website, ABC Facebook page, Entertainment Weekly and E! Online starting at 5:30 p.m. ET.
