If you’re wondering what Android N will be called, so is Google. The tech giant is hosting a contest to allow users to help name the coming version of Android, Google VP of Engineering Dave Burke announced Wednesday at the Google I/O 2016 keynote.
Users can go to Android.com/N to submit their suggestions for the Android N name. The contest ends June 9 at 11:59 p.m. PDT (2:59 a.m. EDT) and requires no purchase.
There have been many name suggestions for Android N, including Nachos, Nori and Nutella. However, Google has been asking the public for help naming Android N for some time. In March, tech blog Android Police discovered Google was pooling Google Opinion Rewards users on snacks that begin with the letter N.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai even hinted in December 2015 that Google might host a poll to decide the name for Android N. The executive announced this during a conversation that took place at Delhi University in India, where a student asked if Android N could be named after an Indian dessert. It looks like that conversation sparked a lot of ideas for Google. However, Burke reminded Google I/O attendees and viewers that the final Android N name will still be decided by the Android team.
